On Tuesday, outgoing Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani issued a set of directives to ministers regarding facilitating the work of the new government and providing support to Prime Minister-designate Ali al-Zidi during his term.

A statement from the office of the Sudanese Prime Minister, received by Shafaq News Agency, indicated that the latter issued a set of directives to the ministers during the cabinet meeting held on Tuesday, which focused on providing support to the Prime Minister-designate during the period of assignment, and facilitating the work of the new government.

Al-Sudani said during the session: “Yesterday, the largest parliamentary bloc was able to nominate a candidate for the premiership, and the constitutional mandate letter was issued to him by the President of the Republic.”

According to the statement, Al-Sudani directed the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers to “form a central committee with all ministries to prepare the ministerial portfolio for each minister,” calling on “each minister to provide a clear briefing that helps the new minister to know the important files, and includes an evaluation of the work and directors with national and professional integrity.”

Al-Sudani stressed that “the journey of serving our country and our people and building the state will continue in light of these serious challenges and difficult turning points that have disrupted the calculations of stable and emerging countries.”

He concluded by saying that “the next stage requires everyone to join forces in order to continue serving our people.”

The Coordination Framework announced yesterday, Monday, the nomination of Ali al-Zidi for the presidency of the Council of Ministers, while praising the positions of (al-Sudani and al-Maliki) for withdrawing their nomination.

Prime Minister-designate Ali al-Zaidi affirmed on Monday that confronting internal and external challenges, assessing risks, and seizing opportunities will be among the “priorities” of his government program, noting that Iraq’s economic capabilities provide an opportunity to manage a capable state.
