The head of the Iraqi and Arab Contractors Union, Ali Fakher Al-Sanafi, confirmed on Sunday that Prime Minister Ali Falih Al-Zaidi promised to disburse one trillion dinars of the contractors’ outstanding dues as a first payment.
Al-Sanafi said in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency that “this approach reflects the government’s interest in addressing the challenges facing contracting companies, especially with regard to accumulated financial dues, which are among the most prominent issues affecting the continuity of work and the implementation of projects according to the specified timetables.”
He pointed out that “disbursing these dues contributes to providing the necessary liquidity for the implementing companies, enabling them to meet their financial obligations towards workers and suppliers, as well as stimulating economic activity and creating additional job opportunities in various sectors related to the construction sector.”
