Political analyst Atheer al-Sharaa ruled out the possibility of the United States withdrawing its forces from Iraq and the region, noting that Trump has sent aircraft carriers, ships, and Marines to the area.
Al-Sharaa told Al-Maalouma, “There is an American-Iraqi agreement for the withdrawal of US forces from Iraq next September, but this may not happen given the developments in the region.”
He added, “Trump has sent warships and aircraft carriers and deployed Marines to various bases in the region, which makes the withdrawal of these forces from Iraq or the region unlikely given the ongoing tensions.”
He explained that “resolving the situation and restoring calm to the region at the present time is not within reach, especially with the presence and military deployment of US forces in the region. Therefore, a withdrawal from Iraq at the present time is highly improbable.”
