Former MP Mohammed al-Shammari stressed the necessity of questioning the Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance in Parliament regarding the financial file, the budget, the spending mechanism, and the final accounts.
Al-Shammari told Al-Maalouma, “The government should have submitted the budget and had it voted on by the House of Representatives in October of last year, but this did not happen. Consequently, operations and spending this year are proceeding according to the 1/12 system.”
He added, “The government is currently managing the country under a caretaker system and is not authorized to spend outside of this system, as it did not submit the budget according to the specified timelines, nor did it send its final accounts for last year.” He explained that
“the government must be held accountable and questioned about the budget and the financial file by questioning the Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance about the budget, the amounts, the spending methods, and the final accounts.”
