Member of Parliament Mahmoud al-Shammari called on the leaders of the Coordination Framework on Sunday to direct the convening of an urgent extraordinary parliamentary session to resolve the issue of the presidency, stressing the need to break the cycle of political compromises that have paralyzed state institutions.
Al-Shammari told the Information Agency that “the continued deadlock and delay in electing a president has cast a heavy shadow on the economic situation and the living conditions of citizens,” explaining that “the crisis is purely political, and its resolution requires a courageous national decision that ends this bitter state of waiting.”
He added that “the current stage can no longer tolerate further reliance on the outcome of the dialogues between the two Kurdish parties,” noting that “national responsibility dictates that all political forces proceed with completing the constitutional requirements and stop the bleeding of time that is crippling the government.”
The political arena is witnessing anticipation as the dispute between the two Kurdish parties continues regarding the candidate for the position, amidst repeated calls from the Coordination Framework to resolve the constitutional requirements and avoid an administrative vacuum.
