Member of Parliament Ahmed al-Shammari revealed on Saturday that the Prime Minister-designate intends to present the majority of his cabinet to Parliament this week, while noting that a points-based system is delaying the finalization of the remaining portfolios.
Al-Shammari told the Information Agency, “The Prime Minister-designate will present 14 to 15 candidates for various ministerial positions to Parliament this week,” explaining that “the remaining ministries have not yet been decided due to the points-based system and the intense competition among political blocs for specific portfolios.”
He added, “The Prime Minister-designate will adopt a strategy of passing the first batch of ministerial nominees, then begin new consultations with the political blocs after the vote to finalize the remaining ministries within a short timeframe.”
