Ahmed Abdul Sattar Al-Salehi, a member of the Anbar Alliance, revealed on Friday that Saudi Arabia has been controlling an Iraqi oil pipeline for over 40 years, despite the fact that the Iraqi government funded the entire project.
Al-Salehi told Al-Maalomah News Agency, “All the successive governments that have ruled the country since 2003 have failed to reclaim the Iraqi oil pipeline (Al-Mu’ajiz Port), which was completed in the 1980s with Iraqi funds. To this day, none of these governments have been able to recover the pipeline.”
He added, “Saudi Arabia confiscated the pipeline, which was fully completed and from which the first oil loading took place in the late 1980s. It was seized by Saudi Arabia in 1991 due to the unstable security situation in Iraq.” He further stated that “a number of Sunni politicians are hesitant to address the issue of the stolen Iraqi oil pipeline for reasons that are well-known.”
He emphasized that “the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has taken no action regarding this file, which is Iraq’s economic lifeline to the world, eliminating the need to construct a pipeline to Jordan and Syria, as it has already been fully completed with Iraqi funds.”
