Al-Saadi - The path of development surpasses cloning projects in 3 key pointsThe former MP, Baqir al-Saadi, acknowledged on Sunday that all attempts to replicate the Iraqi Development Road model in other countries will fail. He pointed out that the Iraqi project is distinguished by three key advantages that give it a significant edge in the movement of goods between Asia and Europe.
Al-Saadi explained to Al-Maalomah that “the Middle East region has witnessed, in recent months, moves by several countries to replicate the Iraqi Development Road model and attempt to establish alternative transport routes from the Far East towards the region and then on to Europe, by shortening maritime routes and converting them into a land route resembling a canal.”
He added that “the Iraqi Development Road is the most advantageous due to three fundamental features. The first is its ability to handle the volume of goods arriving at Basra ports and from there to Turkey and then Europe, in addition to reducing costs by up to 30%.”
Al-Saadi indicated that “the third advantage relates to time, as the transport of goods can take between 15 and 20 days. Consequently, these advantages will entice companies and countries to adopt the Iraqi Development Road as the shortest route between Asia and Europe.”
He emphasized that “the nature of dealing with logistical tools will be easier and more flexible within the Iraqi context, which enhances the project’s chances of becoming a major route for trade and transport between the two continents.”
