Al-Saadi - Iran allowed Iraqi oil tankers to pass through the Strait of HormuzAl-Maalomah/Anbar –
Economic expert Rashid al-Saadi revealed on Saturday that Iran has given the green light for Iraqi oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz to other countries, defying the US-Israeli blockade of the strait.
Al-Saadi told Al-Maalomah News Agency, “The Iranian government has given the green light for tankers carrying Iraqi oil to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, exempting Iraq from the blockade imposed on Iranian ports by the US and Israel.”
He added that “Iran has provided significant facilities for exporting its oil through the Strait of Hormuz without any security or navigational restrictions,” explaining that “all ships carrying Iraqi oil can use the Strait of Hormuz to export oil to countries around the world.” He clarified that “the Strait of Hormuz is a strategic waterway for 25% of global maritime oil trade, equivalent to 20 million barrels per day,” noting that “the Kurdistan Region’s opposition to allowing Iraqi oil exports to Turkey was a negative stance.” He affirmed that “efforts are underway to reopen the oil export pipeline to Jordan.”
