Former MP Ayoub al-Rubaie asserted on Sunday that the country does not need to form an emergency government, noting that the security situation in Iraq, despite the challenges, is stable compared to previous years.
Speaking to Al-Maalomah, al-Rubaie said, “The security situation in Iraq is stable, and all segments of society understand the importance of cooperating with the security forces, which makes the current situation better than it was in previous years.” He added, “The country is not going through circumstances that necessitate taking exceptional measures.”
He added that “the call made by the former Speaker of Parliament to form an emergency government for 45 days is not based on realistic justifications,” noting that “the current circumstances do not push towards this option.”
Al-Rubaie pointed out that “the ball is now in the court of the political forces to proceed with forming the government according to the political understandings,” stressing that “forming the next government is of paramount importance, as it will be responsible for managing vital files, particularly in the economic and financial sectors.”
