Political analyst Wael al-Rikabi revealed on Thursday that there is consensus within the Coordination Framework on Nouri al-Maliki assuming the premiership for the next phase, especially after his visits to Qais al-Khazali, Ammar al-Hakim, and Mohamed al-Sudani.
Al-Rikabi told Al-Maalouma, “The political parties within the Coordination Framework have no objection to al-Maliki assuming the premiership. There are only some questions and inquiries raised by some hesitant parties.”
He added, “The leaders of the Framework will reach a final consensus, and there is a near-certain decision on al-Maliki assuming the position, as he is the sole candidate for prime minister. This is particularly relevant given that the Framework seeks to establish clear criteria for selecting the prime minister.”
He explained, “Everyone has become supportive of al-Maliki assuming the position, especially after his recent visits to Qais al-Khazali, Secretary-General of Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq, as well as Ammar al-Hakim and Mohamed al-Sudani. Ultimately, there is a 90% agreement on declaring al-Maliki prime minister, and he may be announced during the next session this coming Saturday.”
