On Monday, Al-Rasheed Bank denied any connection to the case of ghost employees in the Ministry of Electricity, stressing that it receives the lists ready from the ministry and its only task is to disburse salaries.
The bank said in a statement received by Shafaq News Agency that “any connection of the bank to the issue of disbursing salaries of fictitious employees in the Ministry of Electricity is incorrect, and that the procedures for settling salaries are carried out in accordance with the approved official procedures and based on original lists received from the concerned authorities.”
He added that “the ministry sends the payroll lists to Al-Rasheed Bank monthly, in accordance with official and original letters signed by the authorized representatives, while the bank’s role is limited to submitting the salaries according to the lists and data received from the ministry,” explaining that “monitoring the attendance of employees, their actual presence, and verifying their commencement of work and their commitment to official working hours is the responsibility of the ministry and its affiliated departments, and does not fall within the bank’s jurisdiction or banking duties.”
Al-Rasheed Bank called on the media to be accurate and cautious in reporting information, to rely on official data and sources, and not to link the bank to files or procedures that fall outside its jurisdiction.
Yesterday, the Ministry of Electricity revealed the existence of 549 names of fictitious employees who were listed and had their salaries deposited in collusion with external entities and institutions, most notably Al-Rasheed Bank and the General Directorate of Vocational Education .
