The former Deputy Prime Minister, Saleh Al-Mutlaq, confirmed, on Thursday, the impossibility of reforming the political process by the usual methods, indicating that the best solution is to form a government from a third party that enjoys legislative powers and to freeze the work of Parliament.
Al-Mutlaq said in a televised interview, which was followed by “The Information”, that “the only solution for Iraq is not to give the government to any party and transfer it to a third party, and it means a group of brave, talented, scholars and independent decision-makers without any other party.”
He added, “The government of the third party can achieve the tasks of reforming Iraq in the event that it is granted full legislative powers and freezing the parliament’s work for two or three years in order to bring about qualitative development.”
Al-Mutlaq pointed out that “the return of the Sadrist bloc’s deputies is one of the proposed scenarios, but their return will not change anything,” stressing that “the situation has become critical and there is a historical responsibility that does not require disassociation from oneself, and that the political system is “sterile” and cannot build the country.
