MP Jassim al-Moussawi revealed on Sunday that significant American pressure is being exerted on Prime Minister Ali Mohsen al-Ahmad and political forces to impose individuals for the vacant ministerial positions.
Al-Moussawi told Al-Maalouma that “there is significant American pressure being applied to the Prime Minister and political forces to impose individuals who lack a sense of patriotism to fill the nine vacant ministries.”
He added that “the formation of the cabinet remains stalled due to foreign interference and pressure exerted on political forces,” explaining that the continuation of this interference is hindering the completion of the cabinet and the resolution of the issue of the vacant ministries.
Al-Moussawi pointed out that “the selection of individuals to assume ministerial positions must be based on competence, professionalism, and a sense of patriotism, far removed from any external pressures or dictates.”
He stressed the necessity of expediting the resolution of the cabinet issue in accordance with the national interest and ending the delays accompanying the formation of the government, in order to ensure the continued functioning of state institutions and avoid external influences.
