MP Mukhtar al-Moussawi called on the incoming government on Sunday to work to remove all Turkish forces from Iraqi territory, stressing that the presence of these forces represents a violation of national sovereignty and must be addressed urgently.
Al-Moussawi told Al-Maalouma News Agency that “the Turkish military presence inside Iraqi territory is unjustified and violates international norms and laws,” adding that “the next government is required to put this file among its priorities in order to preserve national sovereignty.”
He added that “the continued presence of Turkish forces threatens internal security and stability,” stressing that “their complete withdrawal will strengthen the independence of Iraqi decision-making and prevent any foreign interference in the country’s affairs.”
