The head of the Al-Bayan parliamentary bloc, Abdul Amir Al-Mayahi, affirmed on Monday that expediting the completion of the cabinet is a crucial step in bolstering moral and political support for ending the foreign military presence and withdrawing the last soldier from Iraqi soil.
Al-Mayahi told Al-Maalomah News Agency that “filling the vacant ministries and positions will grant the government the necessary strength and stability to impose full state sovereignty and implement binding national decisions.” He explained that “the unity and cohesion of the government formation will directly impact the cohesion of the home front and raise morale in the face of external pressures.”
He added that “resolving this crucial issue will allow the executive branch to focus on managing major sovereign and security matters, foremost among them activating the timetables for the withdrawal of foreign forces.” He noted that “Parliament strongly supports empowering the government to fulfill its duties in extending sovereignty and confirming the security forces’ ability to hold the ground without the need for any non-Iraqi military presence.”
