Members of Parliament Mohsen Al-Mandalawi and Adnan Faihan nominated themselves for the position of First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, after the nomination process for the position was opened.

Prior to that, the oldest member of parliament, MP Amer Al-Fayez, announced the opening of nominations for the election of the first deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, before closing them later, according to what was announced by the media department of the House of Representatives.

An informed source revealed earlier today that the forces of the Coordination Framework have reached an agreement to nominate the current governor of Babylon, Adnan Faihan, for the position of First Deputy Speaker of Parliament.

The source told Shafaq News Agency that “the forces of the Coordination Framework have decided on their position by agreeing to nominate Adnan Faihan to assume the position of First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, within the framework of the ongoing political understandings.”

He added that “the Asa’ib Ahl al-Haq movement, in the event that Fayhan moves to his new position, will nominate Ali Turki to take over the position of governor of Babylon in his place.”

In addition, another informed source told the agency that “the Kurdistan Democratic Party’s parliamentary bloc agreed during its meeting in the House of Representatives building to officially nominate Shakhwan Abdullah for the position of second deputy speaker of parliament, as part of the ongoing political agreements within parliament.”
