A source close to the Coordination Framework revealed on Saturday the real reasons that led to the delay in announcing the prime minister candidate, indicating that the core of the disagreements revolves around the distribution of ministries, bodies and executive positions among the forces included in the framework.
A source told Al-Maalomah News Agency, “Some political blocs are insisting on retaining their previous entitlements, even though their current number of parliamentary seats does not qualify them for this.”
The source added, “Announcing the name of the new prime minister candidate is contingent upon reaching a final agreement on the distribution of positions according to a fair points system within the Coordination Framework.”
The source indicated that “the Coordination Framework will not exceed the constitutional deadline, which ends tomorrow, Sunday, for officially announcing the candidate and overcoming the internal quota system impasse.”
The leaders of the Coordination Framework had postponed finalizing the prime ministership during their meeting on Friday, and are scheduled to reconvene today, Saturday, to continue consultations.
