The former rapporteur of the Iraqi Parliament, Mohammed Othman al-Khalidi, emphasized on Wednesday the importance of verifying the academic credentials of all senior officials, ministers, and government officials to ensure transparency and combat the forgery of certificates.
Speaking to Al-Maalomah, al-Khalidi explained that “forging certificates is a crime punishable by law, and unfortunately, some have resorted to this tactic in an attempt to attain positions in state institutions through devious means.” He called for “a comprehensive audit of the academic credentials of all senior officials, ministers, and government officials, including members of parliament,” stressing “the importance of making the results public.”
He further emphasized “the necessity of maintaining the momentum in combating corruption in all its forms within state institutions,” asserting that “corruption in all its forms is a cancerous scourge that threatens the delivery of services, leads to the plundering of funds, and manifests in numerous ways.”
