Member of Parliament, Miqdad al-Khafaji, revealed on Sunday that political blocs intend to exert significant pressure on the incoming government to finalize the budget for the remainder of the current year. He emphasized the necessity of placing the financial file at the top of the Cabinet’s priorities as soon as it assumes its constitutional duties.
Al-Khafaji told the Information Agency, “There is a parliamentary consensus to push the next government to prepare the budget and send it to Parliament for approval as quickly as possible, to ensure the continuity of projects and services.”
He added, “The upcoming budget must move away from the usual approach and focus on supporting productive sectors and providing the necessary protection for vulnerable and important segments of society, with the aim of improving the social and economic conditions of citizens.”
He pointed out that “Parliament will not allow any delay in this vital matter, as it is directly linked to people’s lives and addressing the economic stagnation left by previous political crises.”
