(Baghdad: Al Furat News) The Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kazimi, received today, Sunday, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Mrs. Jenin Blashardt.
The meeting witnessed, according to a statement by the Prime Minister’s Office, which Al-Furat News Agency received a copy of, “discussing the latest efforts made by Iraqi institutions concerned with conducting early legislative elections.”
He added, “The meeting also dealt with ways to enhance cooperation between Iraq and the United Nations in order to bring the electoral process to the best honest and expressive image of the will of the Iraqi people.”
The statement indicated that “during the meeting, they discussed the issue of the displaced and the latest efforts made to secure their voluntary return to their original areas of residence.”
Al-Kazemi and Blashardt also discussed “the progress of implementing programs to combat extremism, and their objectives in order to secure a safe and sustainable national environment in which there is no room for the return of terrorism after its defeat.”
