On Monday, MP Youssef Al-Kalabi, a member of the parliamentary finance committee, attacked the performance of Finance Minister Taif Sami, describing her management of the economic file as a “crime” against the state and the citizen.
Al-Kalabi told Al-Maalouma News Agency that “the performance of the Minister of Finance was not up to the required level during the past period, but rather was characterized by a resounding failure in managing the country’s financial situation.”
He added that “the policy pursued by the ministry has caused a severe financial crisis,” indicating that “its failed decisions have pushed Iraq into a dark financial tunnel, which requires a serious stand for accountability.”
Al-Kalabi explained that “this decline in financial performance has negatively impacted living conditions and exacerbated the liquidity crisis,” stressing the need to correct the financial course to avoid further repercussions that could threaten the country’s economic stability.
