Former member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, Mu’in al-Kadhim, confirmed on Sunday that Iraq needs 150 trillion dinars to cover its expenses for the current year, noting that revenues will not be able to reach this figure, leaving a deficit of approximately 30 trillion dinars.
Al-Kadhim told Al-Ma’louma, “The government will adopt a spending system of 1/12, and oil revenues are expected to reach $75 billion, based on an oil price of $60 per barrel for this year.”
He added, “The aforementioned amount of oil revenues will be approximately 100 trillion Iraqi dinars, calculated at an exchange rate of 1320 to the dollar, to which non-oil revenues are expected to reach 20 trillion dinars.”
He explained that “these revenues will require 30 trillion dinars to cover expenses, especially since Iraq needs 150 trillion dinars this year.”
