The head of the political body of the National Tribal Movement, Abdul Rahman al-Jazaeri, confirmed that Iraq has not received any international or regional objections to the appointment of al-Zaidi to form the new government. Al- Jazaeri told Al-Maalomah, “Despite objections to external directives and tweets, Iraq does not need this crisis. Therefore, the framework, as pursued wisely and rationally by Maliki and Sudani, moved towards a compromise or a balanced candidate.”
He added, “The international community has not expressed any external objection to the appointment of al-Zaidi as Prime Minister and the formation of the new government, especially since al-Zaidi’s appointment was based on a political balance project, far removed from partisanship and quotas.” He explained that
“Iraq has not received any objection to the appointment of al-Zaidi, whether at the international or regional level. There is also anticipation of opening channels with the religious authority, especially since it previously expressed a preference for an independent candidate after raising the slogan ‘Don’t try the tried and tested,’ which was a directive towards the previous governments led by Abadi, Sudani, and Maliki.”
