Former Minister Zuhair al-Jalabi confirmed that political animosity has arisen from some blocs against Nouri al-Maliki, head of the State of Law Coalition, after he withdrew his candidacy for prime minister and gave the position to Ali al-Zaidi.
Al-Jalabi told Al-Maalouma, “The move to appoint young figures to ministerial positions is not the right approach, as such positions require sufficient experience to manage the ministry.”
He added, “Most of the ministerial candidates’ CVs confirm that these individuals are not suitable for their positions, while the State of Law Coalition nominated Qasim Atta and Amer al-Khuza’i for the Ministries of Interior and Education, respectively, as they possess greater experience and competence than 14 ministers in al-Zaidi’s government, despite the veto placed on these two figures.”
He explained that “the obstruction of the cabinet formation and the withholding of confidence from some of the political blocs’ nominees are all reactions against Nouri al-Maliki, head of the State of Law Coalition, especially after he unexpectedly withdrew his candidacy for prime minister and gave the position to Ali al-Zaidi.”
