Arif al-Hamami, a member of the Coordination Framework, confirmed on Wednesday that Thursday’s session will be held with a full quorum, anticipating that all remaining ministerial portfolios will be finalized without any complications.
Speaking to Al-Maalouma, al-Hamami said, “Tomorrow’s session, dedicated to voting on the remaining ministerial posts in Ali al-Zaidi’s government—some of which are still being run by acting ministers—as well as voting on the four deputy prime ministers, will be held with a full quorum.”
He added, “The session’s date was set following a political agreement with all parties, including the Coordination Framework and the Prime Minister, in coordination with the Speaker of Parliament. It was agreed that tomorrow’s session would be held to complete these appointments.”
Al-Hamami indicated that “more than one candidate may be proposed for some ministerial portfolios, but the names of candidates for some ministries, including the Ministry of Interior, have already been decided.” He emphasized, “We do not expect the decision on any ministerial portfolio to be postponed to another session, given the political agreement that resulted from meetings and dialogues that lasted several months.”
Al-Hamami expects tomorrow’s session to finalize the remaining ministerial portfolios.
