Former MP Arif al-Hamami confirmed on Monday that the formation of Ali al-Zaidi’s cabinet will undoubtedly be completed during the month of July.
Speaking to Al-Maalouma, al-Hamami said, “The number of ministerial portfolios that the Iraqi Parliament did not vote on during the session to approve Ali al-Zaidi’s government reached nine, including key sovereign ministries such as Defense, Interior, and Planning.”
He explained that “all indicators point to a political agreement to finalize the vote on the cabinet during July, after the end of the parliamentary recess,” emphasizing that “there is a political desire to avoid delaying the vote, especially since Iraq faces internal and external challenges that necessitate a complete cabinet.”
Al-Hamami added that “there are differing opinions regarding some of the candidates, but the agreement is based on respecting the entitlements of the political blocs and proceeding with the vote on the candidates in a way that ensures the completion of the formation of the next government.”
