Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi appealed to the head of the State of Law Coalition, Nuri al-Maliki, to get him out of his crisis after referring many corruption files to the judiciary.
Independent politician Saad al-Muttalbi said in a statement to Al-Maalouma that “Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi feels that he has reached the stage of embarrassment, and he has sought the help of the head of the State of Law coalition, Nuri al-Maliki, in order to get out of the extreme embarrassment.”
He added, “A meeting was held two days ago between al-Halbousi and al-Maliki, which discussed the political situation and touched on the recent crisis,” noting that “the meeting, its exact details, and al-Maliki’s reaction is not yet known.”
A source close to the Taqaddam Party, which is led by al-Halbousi in Anbar Governorate, revealed earlier that political arrangements precede the issuance of arrest warrants against senior officials in Anbar, most of whom are from the Taqaddam Party, on the background of files of financial and administrative corruption.
