On Wednesday, Ammar al-Hakim, leader of the National State Coalition Forces, renewed his support for the current Iraqi government headed by Prime Minister Ali al-Zubaidi, calling for the development of economic plans to address the financial challenges facing the country.
In his Eid prayer sermon in Baghdad, Al-Hakim said that the region and the world are witnessing rapid political, economic and security transformations, and that Iraq today faces great responsibilities and important opportunities. The country needs concerted efforts, unified energies, and the consolidation of political and economic stability and social peace to build a more secure and stable future.
He added: “After granting confidence to Al-Zaidi’s government, and what we look forward to in completing the government cabinet in the next few days, and voting on acceptable and competent figures,” stressing full support for all success factors that help the government achieve its goals.
Al-Hakim also pointed out that the Al-Zidi government has been responsible since day one for establishing positivity in its most important files, which is the economic file, which we have repeatedly stressed should be the top priority in the government, indicating that the economic challenges require us to think about a different approach that is bolder and more realistic.
He continued, saying: Regional tensions have affected the global economy, and Iraq is part of this scene. What the current stage requires is strengthening economic plans and securing strategic alternatives that support the current stage. He stressed the need to find more flexible economic and financial protection tools and to enhance the state’s ability to protect the national economy from shocks and fluctuations. Moreover, protecting the economy is no longer linked to traditional tools only, but needs to keep pace with digital and technological development.
