The head of the National State Forces Alliance, Ammar al-Hakim, urged on Friday that the vacant ministries in the new Iraqi government be filled quickly and that dialogues between political forces be intensified to resolve this matter.
Al-Hakim said in a statement issued by his office during his meeting with the Secretary-General of the Badr Organization, Hadi al-Amiri, that “granting confidence to the government headed by Ali al-Zaidi is not the end of the road but the beginning of responsibility,” stressing that “a government that is structurally incomplete cannot be complete in its performance.”
The Iraqi parliament voted on Thursday to grant confidence to the government of al-Zidi and its ministerial program, voting on 14 ministers, while postponing the vote on 9 other ministries until after the Eid al-Adha holiday due to political disputes and the United States’ warning against including armed factions in the new ministerial formation.
