The head of the Popular Mobilization Forces, Faleh al-Fayyad, called on Sunday for the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Prime Minister Ali al-Zubaidi to move the Popular Mobilization Forces camps outside the cities, stressing full commitment to the laws and regulations in force that ensure the complete discipline of the movement of the Popular Mobilization Forces.
Al-Fayyad said in a speech during the central official ceremony to commemorate the twelfth anniversary of the establishment of the organization that “the Popular Mobilization Forces stand against sectarianism and have contributed to building a national partnership in which the sons of all components and religions fight in its trenches, contrary to what others promote as a sectarian project,” stressing that the Popular Mobilization Forces represent all Iraqis and have allowed minorities to defend their areas.
The head of the commission called on the government and relevant authorities to provide suitable alternative camps for the Popular Mobilization Forces, in order to ensure their complete presence and deployment outside city and provincial centers.
This demand comes in conjunction with the ongoing movement regarding the disarmament of factions, and the imminent withdrawal of the US-led international coalition forces against ISIS from the country.
