The head of the Tasmeem parliamentary bloc, Amer al-Fayez, confirmed on Saturday that Prime Minister Ali al-Zubaidi has pledged to pursue the fight against corruption and prosecute those involved in cases that have harmed public funds. Al-Fayez told Al-Maalomah News Agency, “Prime Minister Ali al-Zubaidi has placed combating corruption among the priorities of his government program and pledged to take decisive measures to hold those involved accountable and protect public funds.” He added, “The next phase requires activating the role of oversight and judicial institutions and supporting efforts aimed at uncovering corruption cases and prosecuting those responsible.” He explained that “the Iraqi public is waiting for practical steps that translate government promises into real actions on the ground.”
He pointed out that “the government’s success in combating corruption will contribute to strengthening citizens’ trust in state institutions and supporting the path of administrative and economic reform.”
