Ali Al-Fatlawi, a member of the Reconstruction and Development Coalition, confirmed today, Sunday, the ability of the Coordination Framework and its allies to achieve the two-thirds quorum of members of the House of Representatives necessary to pass strategic laws and resolve political entitlements.
Al-Fatlawi told Al-Maalouma News Agency that “the current parliamentary and political map confirms the existence of divisions and clear fragmentation within the other components,” indicating that “the Sunni political house is currently divided into about six poles, and all of them, without exception, are wavering in their alliances either towards the Kurdistan Region or towards the Shiite forces.”
He added that “the current meetings of the coordination framework with parts of the Sunni and Kurdish forces, despite their internal divisions, are sufficient to secure a comfortable majority of up to two-thirds of the parliamentary seats,” noting that “this parliamentary number is what is required and guaranteed within the political process to pass any figure for sovereign positions or to regulate and amend any crucial legal clause.”
