Ali Al-Fatlawi, a member of the Reconstruction and Development Coalition, confirmed on Tuesday that any step related to the dismissal of the head of the parliamentary bloc of the Progress Party, Hebat Al-Halbousi, must be based on clear legal and constitutional standards, far from favoritism or political understandings.
Al-Fatlawi told Al-Maalouma News Agency that “the law must be applied to everyone without exception, whether the official is a member of parliament or an ordinary citizen, and in the event of a legal or constitutional violation, any member of parliament or political entity has the right to demand that the necessary legal measures be taken.”
He added that “political blocs that speak of patriotism are required to prove it by adhering to the limits of the constitution and the law and not covering up any transgressions or violations,” indicating that “any legal violation should not go unpunished, especially within the legislative institution.”
He pointed out that “talk about dismissing Hebat al-Halbousi should be linked to clear legal files and solid evidence, and not based on deals or political pressures.”
