A leader in the Azm Alliance, Mohammed al-Fahdawi, confirmed on Thursday that the process of appointing vice presidents will officially proceed after the vote on the new cabinet, scheduled for next week.
Al-Fahdawi told Al-Maalomah News Agency, “The current political direction is towards appointing two vice presidents, two from the Shia component and one from the Sunni component.”
He added, “This procedure is based on the constitutional powers granted to the president, as the Iraqi constitution authorizes him to choose whomever he deems suitable to fill the position of (vice president) or more, according to Article (69/Second).”
