Member of the United Anbar Alliance, Mohammed al-Dhari, revealed today, Sunday, that the first batch of US troops will soon arrive in Baghdad by air as part of a plan to redeploy them in the capital.
Al-Dhari told Al-Maalomah News Agency, “The Green Zone in Baghdad will witness the arrival of the first batch of US forces in the coming days to resume their duties, just days after Ali al-Zaidi assumed the premiership. Further details regarding the redeployment of these forces, which had vacated their positions prior to the Zionist-American aggression against Iran, remain unknown.”
He added, “The redeployment of US forces in Baghdad came hours after retired US General David Petraeus’s visit to Baghdad and his meetings with high-ranking officials and political figures. The nature of Petraeus’s mission and the discussions he held, which were shrouded in complete secrecy, were not disclosed.” He indicated that “US forces have begun technical and logistical preparations for redeploying their troops in Baghdad and then to other provinces.”
