On Saturday, MP Adnan al-Danbous, a leading figure in the Reconstruction and Development Coalition, confirmed that the leaders of the Coordination Framework had finalized the cabinet appointments in their recent meeting by replacing the previous nominees for the vacant ministerial posts. He also indicated that the decision regarding the vice presidents had been postponed.
Al-Danbous told the Information Agency, “The leaders of the Framework understand the importance of completing the cabinet as quickly as possible, and therefore, it was agreed to replace the previous nominees for the Ministries of Defense, Interior, and Planning.” He explained that “an extraordinary parliamentary session will be held a few days after the tenth of Muharram, preceded by a meeting of the Framework’s leaders to present the names of the new nominees.”
He added, “The meeting also discussed the issue of the vice presidential positions, but the attendees did not reach a final decision on acceptance or rejection, and it was postponed until the next meeting for a final decision.”
On another note, al-Danbous emphasized that “the head of his coalition, former Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, will remain head of the coalition and will not accept any executive position,” stressing that he “will devote himself entirely to managing his service and development project through the members of his bloc within the parliament.”
