Political analyst Ghalib Al-Daami confirmed on Tuesday that the file of deciding on a prime minister candidate is still open within the coordination framework, denying what is being circulated about the position being decided in favor of any figure until this moment.
Al-Daami told Al-Maalouma News Agency, “The statement issued by the last meeting of the Coordination Framework did not include any indication, near or far, of deciding on the position,” indicating that “dialogues and consultations are still ongoing between the parties of the framework to reach a consensus formula regarding the final candidate.”
He added that “the conditions put forward by Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, which relate to achieving a consensus within the Shiite community before proceeding with the nomination of any name, represent a real obstacle in the political scene.”
Al-Daami pointed out that “Nouri al-Maliki still has weight and experience and is still strongly present in political calculations, and he possesses an organizational base and political experience that qualifies him to be a strong option.”
Al-Da’mi concluded by emphasizing that the coming days will be crucial in shaping positions within the framework, amidst internal and external anticipation regarding the nature of the consensus that will lead to the appointment of the next prime minister.
