MP Mohammed al-Bayati confirmed on Wednesday that the 2027 budget may arrive as early as next November. He noted that it has not yet been discussed within the Council of Ministers, pointing out that it will be one of the most challenging budgets, especially given the seven important issues that need to be resolved.
Al-Bayati told Al-Maalouma, “It is not yet possible to set a final date for the arrival of the 2027 budget to the Parliamentary Finance Committee from the Council of Ministers, especially since it has not yet been discussed within the Council of Ministers. This is due to several variables that need to be reconsidered, particularly those related to the price of a barrel of oil, in addition to the fluctuations in the exchange rate.”
He added, “In any case, the budget may arrive as early as next November, but its delay beyond that is very likely.” He explained that “the budget will include seven important points related to the rights of various segments of society, in addition to the rights of the provinces, not to mention outlining an objective roadmap for managing funds, considering that the draft budget law is one of the important projects that determines spending patterns, the size of financial revenues, and how to deal with the expected financial deficit in the 2027 budget.”
He noted that “the budget will be difficult in any case, but we hope it will arrive early in order to resolve all the issues and guarantee the rights of all segments of society, including contracts and wages.”
