Rebin Salam, a member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, confirmed on Thursday that the party’s parliamentary bloc is awaiting the Federal Court’s decision regarding the appeal against the session granting confidence to Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi’s cabinet, and the accompanying failures and deliberate mismanagement by Parliament Speaker Hebat al-Halbousi.
Salam told Al-Maalomah, “There is clear evidence of violations in some of the procedures followed by the Speaker of Parliament during the voting session, especially regarding the way the names of the ministers were presented for voting.” He added, “The matter has become clear and reveals a deliberate attempt to obstruct the passage of ministers from some parties, as well as a breach of political agreements and understandings.”
He added that “what happened is a dangerous precedent that threatens the principle of partnership between political components, and may negatively affect the nature of the understandings existing within the political process in the future.”
Salam added that “the Kurdish MPs will push during the next stage towards passing the pending laws jointly between the central government and the region, foremost among them the Federal Court Law, which the Sudanese government had previously given guarantees to pass, as well as the Oil and Gas Law and the implementation of Article 140 of the Constitution.”
The confidence vote session resulted in a political dispute, with some blocs, including the State of Law Coalition, the Kurdistan Democratic Party, and the Azm Alliance, rejecting the way the session was managed by Parliament Speaker Hebat al-Halbousi. They accused him of deliberately using a different voting mechanism and violating the procedures followed during the vote on the cabinet.
