Haider al-Asadi, a member of the Azm Alliance, explained the motive behind some blocs whose candidates were approved obstructing the completion of al-Zidi’s cabinet.
Al-Asadi told Al-Maalouma, “There are disagreements regarding the remaining ministerial quotas. The Azm Alliance believes that some political forces are trying to throw a wrench in the works to complete the government formation.”
He added, “The aim behind obstructing the completion of the government is driven by narrow alliance and partisan calculations among some political forces and an attempt to seize complete control of the government, especially since the political forces whose ministers were approved are now managing two ministries instead of one.”
He pointed out that “the political forces whose ministers were approved are benefiting from controlling al-Zidi’s government and are working to obstruct its completion under pretexts of disagreement and creating obstacles for the proposed names for the remaining ministries. Consequently, some forces want to maintain the status quo, even if it means keeping al-Zidi’s government weak, with most of its ministries run by acting ministers.”
