Haider al-Asadi, a member of the Azm Alliance, called on the Prime Minister on Tuesday to take measures to prevent political parties from exploiting positions and political influence in government appointments. He stressed the need to adopt merit-based criteria and experience in filling sensitive posts
. Al-Asadi told the Information Agency, “The Prime Minister must work to prevent party interference and the exploitation of partisan influence in appointments, and avoid assigning sensitive positions to individuals who lack the required competence or experience to manage those posts.”
He added, “Many institutions need qualified individuals with extensive practical experience and the ability to manage important files, free from quotas or partisan considerations.”
He pointed out that “a large number of Iraqi graduates and qualified individuals cannot find suitable job opportunities despite possessing the necessary qualifications,” explaining that “adopting the principles of merit and fairness in appointments contributes to improving the performance of state institutions and enhances citizens’ trust in the government administration.”
