Iraqi National Security Advisor Qasim al-Araji stated on Sunday that there is a “great” understanding between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government to resolve outstanding disputes and issues in a way that serves the interests of all Iraqi citizens.
Al-Araji said in joint press statements with the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, Masrour Barzani, in Baghdad, that a high-level joint security delegation from Erbil and Baghdad will visit Tehran, indicating that this delegation represents the previously formed Iraqi-Iranian Supreme Security Committee.
Al-Araji indicated that the committee will meet to discuss in detail the attacks that targeted Kurdistan and Iraq as a whole during the military conflict that the region witnessed, as well as other topics of common interest.
For his part, the head of the regional government stated during the meeting that Al-Araji confirmed to him his rejection of those attacks not only on Kurdistan, but on all regions of Iraq.
The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, Masrour Barzani, arrived in Baghdad on Saturday, leading a high-level government delegation on a visit aimed at discussing with government officials and political leaders the latest developments on the Iraqi and regional scenes, in addition to discussing the resolution of contentious issues and outstanding files between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government in accordance with the provisions of the constitution and in a manner that guarantees the rights of all components of the country.
