Shafaq News/ The veteran Iraqi politician, Hassan Al-Alawi, called today, Monday, to “pledge allegiance” to the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada Al-Sadr, as the leader of the “Shiite political arena.”
Al-Alawi told Shafaq News Agency, “It is in the interest of the head of the State of Law coalition, Nuri al-Maliki, and the Shiites in general, to pledge allegiance to the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, as the leader of the entire Shiite political arena, according to the logic of the parliamentary majority and minority.”
And he indicated that “the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, enjoys the votes of the Shiite majority, and that is why I pledge allegiance to him personally for the leadership of the Shiites without any competitor, just as people are free to pledge allegiance, but they are not free to pledge allegiance to the leader of the minority – in reference to Maliki.”
The leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, with his list of the Sadrist bloc, topped the results of the legislative elections with more than 70 seats.
