Rahim Al-Aboudi, a member of the National Wisdom Movement, confirmed that the meetings of the coordination framework are being conducted in accordance with political and security developments, noting that the file of the Prime Ministership is still open and has not been definitively resolved yet.
Al-Aboudi told Al-Maalouma that “Nouri al-Maliki is one of the most prominent candidates for the premiership, but he is not the only candidate,” explaining that “al-Maliki has not yet obtained full consensus within the coordination framework.”
He added that “there is no split within the framework, and what is being circulated in this regard is not based on real facts,” noting that “differences in viewpoints are managed within normal political frameworks, and in a way that serves the stability of the political process.”
Al-Aboudi pointed out that “the next prime minister must be a non-controversial figure capable of managing the next phase with broad consensus, given the sensitivity of the phase internally and regionally,” stressing that “the Iraqi street requires a strong and balanced government that focuses on service, economic and security files.”
He explained that “the Political Council responded to the request of the Coordination Framework and withdrew the nomination of Mohammed al-Halbousi, in a move aimed at reducing political tension and creating an atmosphere of consensus,” adding that “this step reflects the political forces’ keenness to avoid clashes.”
