The spokesman for the Victory Coalition, Aqeel Al-Rudaini, confirmed on Tuesday the existence of disagreements within the forces of the Coordination Framework, adding that these disagreements are very normal and do not pose any threat to its unity and political cohesion.
Al-Rudaini stated in an interview with Al-Maalouma News Agency that “the real reasons behind the disagreements within the Coordination Framework are summarized in a number of issues, foremost among them the issue of nominating Nouri al-Maliki, head of the State of Law Coalition, for the premiership and his subsequent withdrawal from that nomination, in addition to the issue of the factions and the state’s monopoly on weapons, as well as the mechanisms for distributing ministerial portfolios and calculating points corresponding to electoral entitlements.”
Al-Rudaini categorically denied “the existence of any political bloc within the Coordination Framework working to tear apart its unity and dismantle it,” explaining that “the current disagreements are normal and will never reach the point of a complete break, as those who harbor animosity towards the Framework are promoting.”
Al-Rudaini clarified that “the internal crises and ongoing disputes within the Sunni and Kurdish components have cast their shadow and negative repercussions on the situation within the Coordination Framework, which has weakened efforts to expedite the formation of the new government and hindered the adoption of crucial decisions that serve the interests of the nation and its citizens.”
