The Victory Coalition, headed by Haider al -Abadi, denied on Wednesday any indications or desire for Prime Minister-designate Ali al-Zaidi to withdraw from the task of forming the government, stressing that the session to grant confidence to his ministerial cabinet will be held tomorrow, Thursday.
Coalition spokesman Aqeel al-Rudaini told Al-Maalomah News Agency that “the ongoing disagreements regarding several sovereign ministries are still under discussion among the political blocs,” noting that “this competition is normal in the political process and will end with an agreement on a distribution mechanism that satisfies all parties.”
Al-Rudaini added that “the majority of political forces have a serious and responsible desire to pass the cabinet in Parliament without delay,” while also indicating that “the voting process will be incomplete, as the decision on some ministerial portfolios will be postponed until a later date.”
Parliament had scheduled a session for tomorrow, Thursday, to vote on the ministerial program and cabinet of Prime Minister-designate Ali al-Zubaidi.
