U.S. imports of Iraqi crude oil rose slightly last week, after registering zero the week before, according to data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
The data showed that the United States imported about 43,000 barrels per day of Iraqi oil during the last week, compared to no imports in the previous week, indicating a limited return of Iraqi supplies to the American market.
According to the weekly ranking of crude oil imports to the United States from ten major countries, Iraq came in eighth place, while Canada topped the list with 3.677 million barrels per day, followed by Venezuela with 568 thousand barrels per day, then Brazil with 414 thousand barrels per day, Mexico with 323 thousand barrels per day, Ecuador with 300 thousand barrels per day, Saudi Arabia with 283 thousand barrels per day, followed by Colombia with 167 thousand barrels per day, then Iraq with 43 thousand barrels per day, followed by Nigeria with 23 thousand barrels per day, and finally Libya with 8 thousand barrels per day.
The data shows that Iraqi oil imports to the United States have fluctuated in recent weeks, reaching 195,000 barrels per day on April 24, before falling to 76,000 and then rising to 100,000 barrels per day, before subsequently declining to 67,000 and reaching zero in the previous week, before rising again in a limited way.
