The mayor of Al-Qaim district in Anbar, western Iraq, Turki Muhammad, announced on Tuesday the readiness of the T1 station for loading and transporting crude oil by tankers, with an operational capacity ranging between 40,000 and 50,000 barrels per day, after it had stopped working since 2003.
Mohammed told Shafaq News Agency that completing the station’s readiness represents an important step to revitalize the energy sector in the western regions, and will contribute to supporting oil transport operations and enhancing economic activity in the district.
He added that restarting the T1 station after more than twenty years of being shut down will provide job opportunities and stimulate economic and service activities related to the oil sector, noting that the concerned authorities have completed the necessary technical and logistical preparations to start loading and transporting crude oil by tankers according to the approved plans.
