A source in the state-owned North Oil Company reported on Friday that oil exports from the Kirkuk province fields to the Turkish port of Ceyhan via the Kurdistan Region pipeline have resumed, after a four-day halt.
The source told Shafaq News Agency that pumping operations have gradually resumed through the Kurdistan Region pipeline to the port of Ceyhan, indicating that the initial export volume is about 100,000 barrels per day, with expectations that exported quantities will increase in the coming days as pumping operations stabilize.
He added that the technical teams at the North Oil Company worked during the past few days to monitor the export system and coordinate with the relevant authorities in the Kurdistan Region, which contributed to restarting pumping after the temporary stoppage.
The source indicated that the exported oil comes from the Kirkuk fields and is transported via the Kurdistan Region pipeline to the port of Ceyhan on the Mediterranean Sea, which is one of the main outlets for exporting northern Iraqi oil to global markets.
This route is one of the available options for exporting Kirkuk oil, in light of efforts to ensure the continued flow of oil from the northern fields and to boost Iraq’s oil revenues.
